The Peak District is home to stunning scenery and more than lives up to its reputation as one of Britain’s most inspiring National Parks. Both routes start in the beautiful Hope Valley – the heart of the Peak District home to picturesque and ancient landscapes. The 25km route encompasses part of the enchanting Ladybower reservoir and the 50km route summits Kinder Scout – a moorland plateau that at 636m (2,087ft) is the highest point in the Peak District, Derbyshire and the East Midlands! Join us and discover the rugged beauty of the Peaks for yourself!
We leave the TrekFest Village and head straight through Castleton. We soon get a feel of the beautiful Peak District as we climb up and over Hollins Cross, to reach our first checkpoint in Edale. Following a quick pit stop we walk through Edale and join the Pennine Way which will lead us up and over Kinder Scout. Once we have summited we will make our descent into Hayfield for our second checkpoint and food stop and then continue following the Pennine Bridleway to our third checkpoint in the Peak Forest. The last section of the route leads us through fields to the village of Bradwell and continues through the villages of Brough, Shatton, and Aston before returning through Hope and back to the TrekFest Village.
We leave the TrekFest Village in the opposite direction to those on the 50km route and head through Hope and the villages of Aston and Thornhill before heading north to reach the beautiful Ladybower Reservoir and the location of the first checkpoint. Following a quick pit stop we continue following the edge of the reservoir alongside woodland until we reach Haglee Ford. The route joins a bridleway to Nether Booth and then on to our second checkpoint at Edale. From Edale the route will climb up and over Hollins Cross before returning through Castleton to the TrekFest Village.
