Top Fundraising Tips

Once you have decided which charity it is that you’re going to support, it’s time to reach your fundraising target! Here are our top five fundraising tips to help you get on your way;

1. Set Up an Online Fundraising Page

First things first, you need to set up an online fundraising page, such as JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving. It’s quick and easy to create and makes your fundraising target a lot easier to reach. Make your page personal and keep everyone up to date with your training and fundraising efforts.

2. Get Sharing!

Once you have got your fundraising page set up – it’s time to get sharing! Send an email to all your contacts with the link to your fundraising page and get sharing it on Social Media. Facebook and Twitter are fantastic platforms to spread the word about your upcoming challenge and fundraising efforts. Ask your friends and family to share your link too.

Keep people up to date, with regular posts and chat about how you are feeling in the lead up to the challenge – this may inspire a few more people to sponsor you.

3. Keep in Touch With Your Charity

Your charity will love to hear from you – keep them updated with how you are doing and ask if they have any materials to help you raise as much money as possible for them.

4. Ask Local Businesses for Support

Ask local businesses for donations, raffle prizes or to place a collection pot in their shops. It’s also important to make sure your employers are aware of what you are doing – they can support by putting your story in the company newsletter, sharing your fundraising page across the business or even matching your fundraising total!

5. Say Thank You

Always say thank you to the people who have sponsored you. Not only will this be appreciated by the person who supported you, but anyone who hears or sees you say thanks will then be prompted to sponsor you too!

Good luck with your fundraising! If you haven’t signed up to TrekFest The Beacons yet, then register here or give us a call on 01244 676454 and our team will be more than happy to chat all things TrekFest!
