Start of TrekFest The Peaks 2018

The TrekFest Challenge

What Time Does the Event Start?

The 50km trekking challenge will set off at approximately 7am, whilst the 25km will then set off at 9am on Saturday 31 August. All trekkers must attend a briefing 15 minutes before your start time.

What Kit Do I Need to Bring with Me?

You will have been provided with a full Kit List when signing up for the challenge. Please make sure that you bring all the items marked as mandatory, as they have been listed with your welfare in mind. Anyone who is deemed to be inappropriately equipped will not be permitted to take part.

Can I Wear Trainers?

Unless you intend to run the 25km or 50km routes, then we highly recommend that you wear trekking boots that support your ankles. Failure to wear appropriate footwear may result in you not being allowed to participate.

What Support Will There Be on The Route?

Our amazing TrekFest crew will be supporting you throughout the challenge. Our Event Managers will be heading up the crew, who are all qualified mountain leaders. There will be plenty of marshals along the route and sweep walkers following behind the last walker.

First aiders and event crew will also be present at each checkpoint.

Plus, you’ll receive a route map at registration and the whole route will be marked with fluorescent arrows. Your Route Guide will also contain emergency procedures and contact information.

What Will Be Available at The Checkpoints?

Each checkpoint will contain a selection of snacks such as flapjacks, crisps, fruit and sweets. There will also be plenty of water and cordial to fill up your water bottles. If you are taking on the 50km challenge, then you’ll receive a hot meal at checkpoint 2 and a hot drink at checkpoint 3.

How Long Will I have To Complete the Challenge?

If you are taking on the 50km trek then you’ll have 17 hours 40 minutes to complete the challenge. If you’re taking part in our 25km trek then you’ll have 8 hours 50 minutes. These times are based on an average walking speed of 3km/h (plus time to rest at checkpoints / food stops), which is highly achievable as long as you put in the correct training beforehand. Remember – this is not a race! Checkpoint timings can be found in the Participant Area of the website.
